I've been wishing for some snow days since I set foot in Atlanta, Georgia in 2012. After two long years without snow, my wish has been granted. On January 28, 2014 Atlanta had the biggest snow day. I was excited as a little kid. I enjoyed watching the snow fall from the sky. It continued to snow for a few hours until it was time for the sun to set. When the temperature dropped, the snow that accumulated on the ground turned into ice! It was a nightmare for many commuters and students. My husband and I had to walk 2 miles just to get home. We left our car and literally "walked" on ice. It was the longest walked of my life because it was so hard to walk on ice with my working shoes. I couldn't feel my fingers, and I held on to my husband. He fell a few times and slammed his laptop bag on the pavement. We decided to get something to eat, so we walked to Waffle House, and of course they almost ran out of everything. It took us two hours to get our food. The place was so packed that many customers waited in line outside the restaurant. There were thousands of cars abandoned on the roads. People had to walk home or find shelter in some businesses that opened for stranded travelers. In Fulton County, where I work, there were many teachers and students who were stranded at schools. The school buses were stuck on the icy roads and some were involved in major accidents. Another snow day occurred two weeks later and at this time the roads were clear. I had a great time staying at home with our puppy Brix and studying for my GACE test in April. With this big snow day, I realized that sometimes, we need nature's intervention so we could slow and down. Perhaps nature realized that we needed the time to be with our loved ones and rest.
This blog is about all the beautiful things around me and things I am grateful for every day. Some entries are my personal stories, positive experiences in life, Bible verses, excerpts from books, movies, songs, inspirational videos, articles, essays, a voice within, TV shows, places and people I love, and my BIG dreams. My blog entries will include anything under the bright sun, the shimmering moon, and the sparkling stars! I hope I can inspire you in my little way. Please leave a comment! -AR

Here are some photos of our new puppy, Brix. He is half dachshund and I forgot the other half. He is so playful and we love him.
