This is also called a banana blossom. It is a fleshy purple-skinned flower, which grows at the end of a banana cluster. I grew up in the Philippines and my mom used to prepare this by boiling it, then slicing it into little pieces and take the sap out by spinning a little stick in it. Then she would cook it with coconut milk and it’s always my favorite. Yum! Yum!
