August Rush

A touching encounter of Evan and his father

After the "making" of August Rush(Evan)
I love this romantic, fairy tale movie directed by Kirsten Sheridan. This is a story where we can forget the reality for a moment, believe that there is a happy ending.
Evan Taylor August Rush" (Freddie Highmore) is a prodigy. He is 11 years old, who is very good in music at the level of a highly trained adult even those from Juliard school of Music.
At first Evan lived in an orphanage. He believed that he will still be reunited with his parents, Lyla Novacek an Irish guitarist (Keri Russell), and Louis Connelly (Jonathan Rhys Meyers). Their meeting was just one night stand but they never forget each other. Lyla thought that her child died and without her knowledge his father agreed to send her child to an orphanage. It was only revealed after 11 years when his father got sick and Evan was no longer on the orphanage. Evan left the orphanage and stayed life on the street in New York City. He met Max ( Robbin Williams), who introduced him in the world of music and who baptized him as August Rush. Lyla continues to look for her son and Louis continues to look for Lyla and Evan (August) believes that through his music he will find his parents... watch the movie, it's really nice!

Before and After Marriage...
Before marriage....
He: Yes. At last. It was so hard to wait.
She: Do you want me to leave?
He: No! Don't even think about it.
She: Do you love me?
He: Of course! Over and over!
She: Have you ever cheated on me?
He: No! Why are you even asking?
She: Will you kiss me?
He: Every chance I get.
She: Will you hit me?
He: Are you crazy! I'm not that kind of person!
She: Can I trust you?
He: Yes.
She: Darling!
After marriage....
Simply read from bottom to top.
Beautiful Thoughts to Ponder

Yes, I agree that by loving truly we can be truly happy. This is the most beautiful emotion that we have. Love never dies, but objects don't. We continue to love and feel the pain when we lost the people we love. We may not see how we love someone or something until they stop loving us or they would totally disappear. Then we say, "If Only..."

Believe in fairy tales? Well, sometimes it helps when we believe that someone out there is thinking about our smiles or dreaming about our smiles than thinking that you're alone and that no one cares. For me, I know that my mother would always be there for me and when I'm away she would pray for my safety. :)
Hmmmm yes, might be true...we call it selfless love. It's like the story of a white rose and a bird. A bird fell in love with the white rose, but the white rose really wanted to become a red rose. The bird, then use her thorns to prick his body and showered his blood to her lovely rose. Now, the rose turned red...and what happened to the bird? well, that's the saddest part of their love story. The bird lost his life for his love...i don't think this is the kind of a true love, for love means give and take. You can't love others if you don't love yourself, for we can't give what we don't have.
Sometimes applicable, but in this world where most people have have a definition of what is beautiful and what is not. There are just standards. Some people may not have the chance to see the real things that majority calls beautiful, so they just feel them and thought that it's the highest form of beauty...Life is just full of prejudices...You may not agree with me but people who got the face value earn more and sometimes deserve the best treatment...(I'm just thinking so loud, but I have nothing against Helen Keller)

Research Class Report: Sampling Types/Procedures
PROBABILITY (RANDOM SAMPLING)
· Convenience sample
· Purposive sample
· Quota sample
NON-PROBABILITY (NON- RANDOM SAMPLING)
· Convenience sample
· Purposive sample
· Quota sample
These samples focus on volunteers, easily available units, or those that just happen to be present when the research is done. Non-probability samples are useful for quick and cheap studies, for case studies, for qualitative research, for pilot studies, and for developing hypotheses for future research.
The differences between Probability (Random) Sampling and Non-Probability (Non-Random) Sampling are summarized below.
| Probability (Random) Sampling | Non-Probability (Non-Random) Sampling |
| | |
| Allows use of statistics, tests hypotheses | Exploratory research, generates hypotheses |
| Can estimate population parameters | Population parameters are not of interest |
| Eliminates bias | Adequacy of the sample can't be known |
| Must have random selection of units | Cheaper, easier, quicker to carry out |
| | |
Parameter - a parameter is a characteristic of a population.
Statistic - a statistic is a characteristic of a sample
Probability (random) samples:
Simple random sample: Each unit in the population is identified, and each unit has an equal chance of being in the sample. The selection of each unit is independent of the selection of every other unit. Selection of one unit does not affect the chances of any other unit. Example: lottery method and table of random numbers method
Systematic random sampling is the process of selecting every nth member of the population arranged in a list. For example you could take every 10th member of a list of people (the population) arranged alphabetically.
Stratified random sampling is obtained by dividing the population into subgroups and then randomly selecting from each of the subgroups. The number of units selected from each subgroup can be proportional to the groups number in the population or can be equal-sized among the subgroups.
Cluster sampling: groups are selected rather than individuals. For example select 5 elementary schools from among the 25 elementary schools in the district.
Non-Probability (Non-Random) Samples:
Convenience Sampling also called an "accidental" sample or "man-in-the-street" samples. The researcher selects units that are convenient, close at hand, easy to reach, etc. Taking an intact group (e.g. your own forth grade class of pupils) and using this group to represent the population (e.g. all fourth grade students in your state, province, or country). This is not really sampling at all and there are severe problems in generalizing the results from your sample to the population in incidental or convenience sampling.
Purposive sample: the researcher selects the units with some purpose in mind, for example, students who live in dorms on campus, or experts on urban development.
Quota sample: the researcher constructs quotas for different types of units. For example, to interview a fixed number of shoppers at a mall, half of whom are male and half of whom are female.
OTHERS
Snowball Sampling: In social science research, snowball sampling is a technique for developing a research sample where existing study subjects recruit future subjects from among their acquaintances. Thus the sample group appears to grow like a rolling snowball. As the sample builds up you gain enough data to use for your data. This sampling technique is often used in hidden populations which are difficult for researchers to access; example populations would be drug users or commercial prostitutes.

My Question Posted in Yahoo! Answers
I just wonder if there is a limit with space data storage like the web and the information technology? is there a measure for the storage limit such as more than a gigabyte? what do we call it? what happens is internet space will stop accepting new information? Do they delete some stored info? I'm just curious about internet storage capacity? A bit worried that one day I can't post something online.
Thank you guys for all your answers.

No, I'm afraid you don't understand how the Internet works. Data doesn't sit on one never-changing server room somewhere. Instead, it's a snaking network of ever-upgrading server rooms snaked all over the world, from Sweden, to Tokyo, to Argentina. The actual wires that share the data are owned by multiple people, provide multiple paths to linking any two machines, and are being frequently upgraded to keep up with the increasing number of users and the demands they place. This is why the Internet is so hard to kill or censor- it was deliberately made redundant as it was a military technology and had to ward off cataclysm.
"MANIMAL3"
...I'm glad you explained it, that's the reason why I'm asking since I don't have the same training when it comes to technology as you do.
Facebook really it takes up room I'm guess over 10 000 GB and they can always add more hard drives to make it bigger to meet the demand of people using it.
there for the internet can never be full because we make it bigger all the time. "MAC"
* well... it well never happen... but i guess... if you think about it... theres only a limited amount of space and if... some how that space was consumed by servers using optimal hard drives for the maximum amount of room that can be provided at the time ... and at the same time be full of data... well i guess.. its possible... but not even remotely imaginable "KENNY"
* Terabyte. Petabyte. Technology will keep advancing, don't worry about the Internet running out of space. It's not going to happen within our lifetimes. "TINKTERF"
* When the Internet is full, you will see this. (I like this)

ESL Lesson 3: 10 Signs That You're Dating a Commitment-Ready Guy
Are you ready for a relationship that is going to lead somewhere without you being led on? It's time to start weeding out the commitment phobics and put your time and effort into men that are looking for the kind of relationship you want -- one that has a future. If you're interested in getting married, ignore these at your own risk. Here's what to look for:
1. His friends are married
If you are interested in a guy, check out his friends' left hands to see if they have wedding rings on.
“Research has show that if his friends are already married, he's more likely to get married.”
Research has show that if his friends are already married, he's more likely to get married. If all of his friends are still single and in the "party-with-the-boys" phase, that's a bad sign.
2. He's financially secure
Studies show that men who own a home are more marriage-ready. A man who is generally financially stable, and has his ducks in a row, feels marriage is a practical next step for him.
3. He pursues you
The guy who is commitment-ready is going to initiate doing things with you. If you're emailing him and he takes days to email you back, if you have to text him to find out where he is, if you are always calling him, you're chasing a man who's probably not marriage-material.
4. He's willing to wait
Yes, research is telling us what we already know: If a guy gets to know you before getting intimate, he is more likely to commit.
5. He watches DVDs with you when you're sick
Taking care of you when you're sick shows that this guy isn't just in it for the fun and sex. If he wants to be with you in bad times, it's a sign he's in it for the long haul.
6. He gets to know your friends and family
A guy who is thinking long-term wants to truly get to know you. Seeing you interact with your family and friends helps him learn where you come from and more about who you are. The flip side of it is that he will also want you to get to know him! He'll want to see if you fit in with his family and friends. A guy who keeps you separate from the important people in his life is just playing around.
7. He says, "we" instead of "me"
When he switches from "me" to "we", that's a sign he's committing to you at a deeper level. If your guy is all, "I", "me", and "my" instead of "we" and "us" in conversations after you've been dating a while, his mindset is still in single guy mode.
8. He's not afraid of compromise
“A commitment-ready guy is going to ask your opinion, consult you about decisions he needs to make, and has the ability to meet you half-way.”
A commitment-ready guy is going to ask your opinion, consult you about decisions he needs to make, and has the ability to meet you half-way. A bull-headed guy who needs everything his way or it's the highway, isn't ready for the compromise that's naturally part of a mature relationship.
9. He doesn't need excuses
Commitment-phobic guys always have an excuse about why they can't be with you on Saturday night, why they didn't call, and why they aren't ready for a relationship right now. A commitment-ready guy doesn't need excuses, he just needs you.
10. He likes being in a long-term relationship
Some men like being in a monogamous relationship and some don't. The sooner you realize and accept this the better. If he complains all the time about needing space, treats you like a giant burden instead of a gift, and keeps talking about taking things slow, he's telling you he's not ready for a commitment. On the other hand, if he's done with the party scene, enjoys your "couple time" together, and has a strong sense of family, you've found a commitment-ready guy.

The Alchemist
This is the famous quote found in the story, The Alchemist, a famous book written by
a Brazilian named Paulo Coelho. In this book Paulo presents a simple life of a shepherd boy who followed his “dream” even if it meant to abandon his family and disregard his own emotion.
I admire how Santiago, the protagonist, pursue his desire to travel and how his father understands him. Being poor is not a reason why we should stop dreaming. Big things happen because someone had dreamed about doing them. In this book, the author shows
that each person has a great part in helping us achieve our dreams may we not
know it but we meet different people who play important role for us to realize
our dreams.
Santiago became a shepherd so he could realize his dream to travel. Every person that he met in the story seems to know he would be successful. When he visited a fortune teller to consult his recurring dream, the fortune teller made a deal that he should give 1/10 of his wealth then he immediately agreed thinking that it was just for fun.
He wanted to go to Africa to visit the pyramid and find the treasure. He sold some of his cattle’s so he could have the money for his journey in Africa. Someone fooled him and left him with nothing. He worked with a merchant and when he had enough money he left the store and continue his journey to the pyramid.
On their way, they stopped in an oasis and had an encounter with Arabs. He saved
the villagers when he told them his premonition. He was given gold. He met a girl in the oasis and promised that he would come back for her. He went to the Alchemist and they had a journey together going to the pyramid. The alchemist taught him things which are
impossible for him to do, but he was about to do them, like turning himself into a wind.
He reached to the pyramid and met a robber who got his gold and money and left him
nothing. This robber told him that he’s stupid about following his dream since he also had the same dream about a treasure buried somewhere near a tree at the back of the chapel in Spain. Then at this moment, Santiago immediately went home and dig the treasure in the place described by the robber. He found a box of treasure of different types. He then went back to the fortune teller and gave him 1/10 of the wealth he found and went back to Africa to fulfill his promise to Famita.
This story is a good example of having big dreams, and working hard to get them. Sometimes, no matter how hard we try sometimes we couldn’t just get what we wanted for the universe works together for us to realize our dreams. With this I believe that everything happens for a reason, but we don’t have the skills to understand all reasons, sometimes we just think we got lucky but we actually got something that was a product of interconnections from all the people we meet.
Human Nature
Yes, this is true for any work places. I have been into different working environment and dealt with different kinds of employers and co-employees. One thing is common; employees are never satisfied with what the employer is giving. The employer is seen and the antagonist and someone who doesn’t want to give what the employees deserve. Well, Science may put it that “change” is the only constant thing in this world. But my question is, are the employers ready to undergo some changes? Yes and No. Of course they would let change happened if it is beneficial to them, and NO if it’s only beneficial to the employees. But they have their reasons for doing that. They are businessmen and
they wanted to see their profit soar and they don’t care about people’s
feelings about such changes.
What about those people who are in the organizational chart and feel that they are so powerful? Are they as powerful as the employers? Do they have the right to reprimand? Shout co-employees in public? Humiliate them? Accuse them of doing things they didn’t
do? I guess CEOs or Presidents who are not part of the company should not act as if they are too high and mighty. Politics in the work place do exist. I don’t care about trivial things but some people are just so foolish to dwell on these things. Why can’t they just focus on something that is good? Why can’t they just let go of people who are no longer happy to part of them? Why can’t they be professional? Why do they have to be sarcastic? If people have this excuse that they are acting stupid just because they are “human” then therefore this is a nonsense world. We keep on doing foolish things and make the excuse that we do them just because we are human? I can’t understand men… sometimes so good, but sometimes too dangerous…then why? what''s human nature?
You Are What You EAT
Christmas holiday is coming and this is the time when people around the world show that they are not poor specially when it comes to food. This is my favorite season of the year. I always love Christmas. Well, first reason is the abundance of food. I love to see the kitchen loaded with food. Yes, eating time! This is the time when New Years’ Resolution of eating less and staying fit is forgotten. This is the time that once could say, well just for Christmas. But, most of us are not aware that the food we prepare on this season are foods rich in calorie. With all the cakes, ham, cheese, salad, pasta, cookies and all that we can afford to buy. Well, though it would just be for a day or two, our body would already get so much calorie from the different menus we have. This is the best time wherein one must consider light cooking. It doesn’t mean that you will forget about cakes and cookies. Well, choose the right ingredients that would give you less calorie. You can always cook
something that is more nutritious, easy to prepare and of course good for your health.
If you believe that prevention is better than cure, or an apple a day keeps the doctor away, then it wont hurt to practice light cooking. Be aware of the food you eat, know the contents and know what your body needs.
We are so accustomed to processed foods, we don’t realize that these foods are loaded with fat and sugar which our body doesn’t need much. We should eat food that would nourish our body, food that would make us healthy not food that would satisfy our hunger.
