In Cebu City, Philippines, maybe your life is just P500.00 pesos or less( about 10 USD). It's so ironic that in China I feel so safe. I would not mind walking alone in the streets even if I would end up getting lost. Now that I am home, I feel happy that I am with my family, but honestly I don't feel safe. Everytime I go somewhere, I always feel that a thief is going to take my wallet or my phone so most of the time I don't take my phone with me. When I was at Ninoy Aquino International Airport,I overheard some passengers talking about a priest that was killed because he refused to give his cell phone to the thieves. The thieves wanted his cellphone which only cost about 1000 pesos or 20USD. For Reverend Father Jovencio Rabusa's murder, I feel sad and sorry for our government security. Last year, before I left for China, a nursing student was also shot inside a jeepney because she refused to give her money to the robber. I even saw a thief snacthed a silver jewelry of another passenger just right in front of me. These crimes in Cebu make me feel scared of walking alone in the streets even at day time. If I had 500 pesos with me and I would refuse to give my money to them, then they would kill me for that reason, so my life would only be worth 500 pesos. It's too sad, and I feel that the government can NOT solve this problem. These robbers are crazy and they don't care about how much money you have or how much is the cost of your phones. I hate these people and I just hope that human rights activists will not protect them when someone wanted to keep them. I wish I could help.

I totally agree Angel...Its been almost 2 years I was out of the country and when I came back, the first thing the taxi driver told me is to NOT take jeepney coz crimes are high on it...he also told me not to walk alone or show my cellphone...its just 2 years and the crime rate became so high its unbelievable...what happened to Cebu now? when I went to Colonnade to change my pesos to dollars before coming back here in India, I was scared all the time and I kept on looking behind me, afraid that someone would snatch my bag...Home is not safe anymore...I can't believe it...we are safer in another country than in our home country...its very sad...
