A day before the 2010 election in the Philippines I called my mother in Cebu and asked about who she was voting for and without hesitation she said, "Noynoy". I asked why and she said that it's because of her mother, the late President Cory Aquino. I felt bad because my mother and I went to COMELEC together to register but I flew back to China so I missed the chance of choosing the right person for our leader. It would have been my first time to write someone's name on a ballot. Our constitution says that every Filipino has a right to vote when we turn 18 years old but I have never exercised that right. Well, I'm just happy that Noynoy won not because of his promises or platforms but because my mother voted for him. I'm sure she is happy now that her candidate won the election and will become the president of the Republic of the Philippines, the Pearl of the Orient Sea. Congratulations Noynoy and all the best, you have a long journey ahead!
I just miss home... :)
