My Weekend Adventure

Going to Siquijor island, last Saturday and Sunday, May 19th and 20th is one of the best experiences I can imagine. The place is the hometown of my late father. What I had in mind was completely the opposite. I was amazed that there are big houses and the road and tress are so green. We were ushered by the personal driver of the mayor and there were two cars waiting for us. The driver was a quiet person, the type who would only say yes or no. He took us at Cafe Larena, a restaurant owned by the brother of our boss who happened to be the former mayor. He welcomed us with a warm and sincere smile. The place is really nice since it's facing the blue sea. We were introduced then the food was served. Then, we left the restaurant and headed to their house.
When we arrived at the guest house, most of my officemates were so tired so they went to their rooms and slept. But I chose not to sleep and decided to explore the place. The place was so quiet and the house is surrounded by tall tress. Four of us decided to have a swim since the beach is just infront of the guest house. Wow! white sand and clear water beach! There were no people around so it was perfect.
We went back to our room and slept for a few hours. We woke up since dinner was served. We spent few minutes chatting and since we had a long trip we slept early. The next day, which was Sunday was a day of a real adventure. We traveled to Cantabon cave. I was so excited since I never had the experience of going inside a cave.
It was a long travel on the way to the cave. I just enjoyed looking at the great view. Mountains, trees, birds and everything there was. We arrived at the place first so we needed to wait for the the rest of the group so we could go inside together.
Finally, we started to explore the cave. Words are not enough to describe what I found inside. Wow! the cave was filled with stalactites and stalagmite.. everywhere! and there was a river bed inside. We spent more than two hours inside and we were all amazed with the beauty. If I had been to Mount Everest then perhaps I could say that it was like climbing up on the mountain. There are times when he had to crawl, climb a big rock or even cross a deeper water. I never imagined that there's a place like that underground! The crystals were glittering in the dark. There was a frame stalactite and a shower. Then at the middle part of the cave were beds of stalagmite. They are so white and the water that flows is so cold and it feels so good it the skin.
That experience teaches me something. I would say things about a person just by looking at things that are visible to me. It's really true that appearances are deceiving. For me, what's inside is what amazes me. I may admire the beauty outside but I would rather go inside and see what treasure there is. The land is not really appealing to the eyes. Trees and grasses are almost withered, but underneath them lies a very beautiful creation. All I can say is, everything that God created, he created them perfectly.
