Adios Mosquitoes

I was tired of seeing some traces of mosquito bites on my skin. I don’t see any mosquitoes during the day, so I thought I didn’t need a mosquito net. But I thought wrong, after a few nights I noticed more and more mosquito bites. I decided to do a general cleaning last weekend since we had four days holiday for Dragon Boat Festival celebration here in China. I just found one mosquito under my working table and I failed to kill it. I guess I’m not good in killing mosquitoes. After cleaning I decided to buy a mosquito net since I found out that my room was positive for mosquito. I wrote down the size of the bed so I could just give it to the sales lady. When I got into the store, I found two types of mosquito nets. There is this one without a stick and one with a stick. I couldn’t use the one without stick since I don’t have any post in my room where I could tie them. So I took the one with stick. It looks nice on the picture, a square sized mosquito net set on the bed. It looks like the bed of the queens in China before. The price was a bit higher than what we have back at home, where we can just buy a good mosquito net from 20-50 RMB. It costs me 75RMB which I didn’t include in my budget for this week. But anyway, I hate mosquitoes so I guess it’s worth the price. When I got back I was too excited to set it up. I open the bag took out the sticks, (2 separate sticks) connected with a string. I look at the picture again. I tried to slide them on the side of the net which has a place intended for the stick. After I tried inserting it to every side, I just couldn’t make the mosquito net stand upright as it should be. I found it too difficult to set up since I have never tried using this type of mosquito net. The one we have at home is too simple to use. Just tie the four ends to the corner of the room and it’s done. I tried working on it for almost an hour until I finally made it. After I set it up, I felt so tired that I didn’t think about going down to the school canteen to eat. I just laid down and sleep inside this beautiful mosquito net. I even didn’t turn off the television and when I woke up at 1:00 am I was surprised that someone was speaking Chinese in my room. I thought I was somewhere, I couldn’t remember, but when I turned around I saw CCTV 1. I felt guilty that I wasted so much electricity for about 5 hours. But I was glad I could say, “Mosquitoes, get away from me!”
