I consider myself lucky to grow up in tropical country, the Philippines. Ever since I was a kid, I always love to play outside when it rains. Growing up in a country side gave me lots of opportunities that I enjoyed most. My late father used to be a farmer when I was not in school yet. He planted all sorts of vegetables. We had coconuts trees, rice and corn field and we lived near the river where we could go and swim all we wanted. When it rained, I used to run around outside the house and play with my younger bother, Antonio. We would make a river and enjoyed raindrops while digging the soil to make some wells. If the rain was heavy enough to flood the river, we would happily get our net and went to the river side and tried to catch some fish and shrimp. Though there were only few of them but I enjoyed the idea of having alive fish and shrimp on my hand. Sometimes, when my mother wouldn't allow me to go out and play, specially when it's night time, I usually stayed on our small window. Look over to the corn, and rice and I really envied them dancing when the raindrops touched their leaves. How I wish i could go out, but my mother was thinking that I would get sick. That was then... but now it's totally different now.
I still love it when it rains. But living in a big city doesn't give me the opportunity to run outside the house and enjoy the raindrops. All I can do is watch the rain and wish I were home. Yes, now when it rains, I become homesick. I wish I were in our home in Zamboanga with my nieces and nephews and we would play in the rain.
Nature always amazes me. I never stop wondering why it rains and why is it that rivers and oceans never run out of water. Yes, Science does its part of explaining things well. The processes such as evaporation, condensation, precipitation, collection well this is how rain forms... the process never stops.. though human and animals never stop using them nature never runs out of supply. I just love it!
